SOS Children's Villages is an international non-governmental organization (NGGO) focused on social development. They have been active in the field of children's rights and have been committed to children's needs and concerns since 1949. They are active in 133 countries and territories, its activities focus on children without parental care and children of families in difficult circumstances. The basis and aim of their work is to respect, promote and stand up for children's rights. This particular fundraiser raise money to support the building of computer labs across Nicaragua for unprivileged children. Each new computer Lab will have six work stations, Internet access and an all-in-one printer. The new computer labs will provide 350 children the chance to develop their computer skills.
Operation Smile is a nonprofit medical service organization based in Norfolk, Virginia and was founded in 1982. Operation smile is a non government agency (NGO) which provides cleft lip and palate repair surgeries to children worldwide. It also assists countries in reaching self-sufficiency with these surgeries, and works to reduce the occurrence of cleft lips and palates.
As of March, 2013, the organization reports that it has provided more than 3.5 million comprehensive patient evaluations and over 200,000 free surgeries for children and young adults born with facial deformities.
